<p>I was ON POINT Week 1.. Tazzee sent me text messages to make sure I got my butt up!!! THANK YOU.. It was Thursday morning and she must have felt my vibe because I didn’t want to get up and I got that text and my quick response was I’M UP!!! Hahahaaa</p>
<p>I’ve gotten tweet updates from some of ya.. I seen your stats and Gladys hit me up and she has done a FABULOUS JOB!!! Gladys is ON IT!!! Oh and let me go on to say I’ve watched her thru her entire process of revamping her lifestyle and can I just say she is so fabulous.. Plus I want her hot swimsuits.. #imjustsayin</p>
<p>So check in folks.. HOW DID YOU DO ?? Didn’t do too hot?? Well hopefully you are doing better during WEEK 2!!</p>

<p>So when I read that quote in the pages of my latest issue of Runner’s World magazine I like STOPPED.  I mean seriously I just looked up from the magazine and almost missed my stop on the train because I was so deep in thought.</p>
<p>This quote resonated in me very very deeply.  It took me back to when I was 11 yrs old and competing in the Colgate Women’s Games.  It took me back to something my HS Coach told me my freshmen year of HS after finishing 2<sup>nd</sup> in the Freshmen 800m run.  PATIENCE is the key to everything.</p>
<p><em><strong>It takes patience to become the best runner you can be</strong></em></p>
<p>We ALL have this all or nothing mentality.  We forget after abusing our bodies for YEARS that we have to re-nurture it for it to behave properly.  We aren’t all blessed with the “run fast” or “run long” gene.  We have to put in the WORK.  Work means training, building, being PATIENT with ourselves and overcoming our fears to put one foot in front of the other to tackle that 1<sup>st</sup> run or that LONG run.</p>
<p><em><strong>running is a long-term sport</strong></em></p>
<p>Running is a long term sport..It’s not something done overnight!! When you lace up your sneakers and you hit the pavement or treadmill you are building strength &amp; endurance.  When you speed up your workout you are building up your pace.  When you hit the hills you are preparing yourself for a faster pace on the flat.. while some things may come easy and we are naturals at.. everyone can’t be a natural at everything.</p>
<p><em><strong>It is set up for people who value delayed gratification and who like hard-earned success.</strong></em></p>
<p>If you put in the work.. you will get the results you desire and that is with anything in life NOT just running.  IT STARTS WITH YOU.  Being a casual runner is OK.. there is NOTHING wrong with that.. but don’t covet someone else’s PR if you are NOT going to train hard to achieve the same status.  Some people are OK with just finishing a race and run tons of them.. from a 5K to a marathon it gives them something to do.  If you are a competitor you may choose to beat your last time, etc.. but until YOU make the commit to truly train for that specific race distance YOU will NEVER truly understand the feeling of SUCCESS of crossing that finish line through blood, sweat, tears, blisters, vomit, loose bowels, knee pain, back pain.. etc..</p>
<p>So stop making excuses of WHY you can’t run a 5K or a 10K or 10 miler or half-marathon or even a marathon.  If it’s NOT for you then it’s NOT for you BUT don’t covet the time and effort someone else has put in to make their dream of completing one or more of the races a reality.  Don’t throw shade and make snide comments to them about their training and try to sabatoge them with your negativity. If you can’t be genuinely supportive.. then leave them alone.  They had the patience to begin and they need support to get through. </p>
<p>So in no nicer words.. <strong>PUT UP OR SHUT UP</strong>..</p>

<p>Today is July 5th and DAY 1 OF THE SHAKE IT UP CHALLENGE!!!</p>

<p>Ok I&#8217;ll wait for you to read&#8230; go on&#8230; OK finished.. GOOD</p>
<p>Now I have said it before that I needed to do something DIFFERENT because my body was NOT responding to my workouts the way it should.. Yes I was still getting FIT but NOT losing any weight.. *womp womp*</p>
<p>Sooo I enlisted my friend, mentor and trainer to HELP ME GET OVER THE HUMP!!! She so kindly agreed BUT also told me to CREATE A PLAN and she will tweak it accordingly.. HA!! So I did JUST THAT and well it&#8217;s on.</p>
<p>I currently teach Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings every week and every other Sat morning.  Well when I stopped running I hadn&#8217;t been doing much else and when I did it wasn&#8217;t with much effort. So outside of my teaching schedule I will also be adding 5:30am workouts on Mon, Tues &amp; Thursday and checking in with my twitter &amp; daily mile crew for accountability.  Tues &amp; Thurs evenings I will be working with my trainer so yes don&#8217;t be discouraged by the I hate You tweets or I can&#8217;t feel my legs.. LOL it&#8217;s all good!!!</p>
<p>Please know if you can&#8217;t do the 5:30am workouts you can still be a part of the challenge!!! The goal is to add 3 additional workouts of at least 30 mins to your current routine.. so if you workout 3x&#8217;s a week now just add another 3.. and if you have to double up some days.. GO AHEAD!!!!</p>
<p>So below is a list of those who have already joined the challenge.. ARE YOU IN???? leave a comment and I&#8217;ll be sure to check in with ya next week to see how you did!!!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I have to say.. I have been VERY disappointed with the ACE personal trainer reveiw course.  4 sessions and I&#8217;ve had issues the entire way with the exception of 2nd session to some extent.</p>
<p>Week 1 &#8211; Session 1.. after about 40 mins I got booted out of webinar and NO WAY to get back in.  Emailed instructor who told me to contact tech support.. whatever happened they couldn&#8217;t figure it out.. I was emailed the recording but again that&#8217;s TIME I have to take back out again to listen to material I already could have listened to.  Listening again should have been a review option for me.. NOT to get the info 1st hand.</p>
<p>Week 2 - Session 2.. NOT BAD.. access was easy and info was sent a few days in advance unlike the prior week where I had to email to find out if we would be getting a link since I hadn&#8217;t received anything.  This session was very good and I learned a lot.  My only gripe, information was NEVER emailed after class like they said it would be and I had to reach out and contact the coordinator to receive the information.</p>
<p>Week 3 &#8211; Session 3.. I NEVER RECEIVED THE LINK TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CLASS.  My emails were NOT responded to until the DAY AFTER. </p>
<p>Week 4 &#8211; Session 4.. I received the information in advance but unfortunately due to my work schedule wasn&#8217;t able to participate in it. </p>
<p>Out of the 4 weeks only ONE was a problem on my end and well work calls.. it&#8217;s nothing I could do.  While the coordinator/instructor was very &#8220;apologetic&#8221; it didn&#8217;t do me any good.  I wish I would have just signed up for the work at your own pace module because at least I could access whenever I wanted vs. carving out time in my schedule to only be screwed over.</p>

<p>I&#8217;m sorry for the abundance of cupcakes I have eaten.  I know moderation is key and that means 1 cupcake but I&#8217;ve eaten 2 or 3 at a time celebrating all of the lovely events that have happened over the last two weeks.. I promise to do better.. starting today..</p>
<p>I know you are craving a good run but Dr. V said we have to wait.. THANK GOD though he said we can do some EASY running like mid-July.. can you believe it??? that&#8217;s like 6 WEEKS SOONER THAN HE ORIGINALLY SAID *doing the cabbage patch &amp; the running man*</p>
<p>I am sure everything will slow down once we get through Nationals next week.  the excitement is building and OMG I dont&#8217; know what to do!!! I&#8217;m so nervous yet Bruce Leroy isn&#8217;t.. i&#8217;m already stressing out about what food I will eat.. and I know you tell me all the time.. STOP STRESSING.. it makes me eat worse.. agh..</p>
<p>Ok so I am taking care of you.  We have a lot going on and the doctors from Dr. V to Dr. D are all on me about losing the weight, keeping my cholesterol levels low, etc.. I&#8217;m not getting any younger although you make me feel like I&#8217;m 18 again..</p>
<p>So let&#8217;s make a deal beginning July 5th.. we&#8217;ll start a new plan.. a new eating and workout plan..</p>
<p>Deal??? what?? why not July 4th?? Cause that&#8217;s Bruce Leroy&#8217;s birthday and we wont&#8217; be back from vacation until July 3rd!!! <p>I&#8217;m at this crossroad in my life.  I&#8217;ve LOST the weight before..AND kept it off.. BUT it managed to creep back up.. and I know exactly when.. I had torn my meniscus in my left knee and couldn&#8217;t do ANY activity outside of physical therapy.  I was slightly depressed and while I ATE clean I DRANK heavily.. since then I&#8217;ve controlled the amount of wine I intake. a few glasses a week vs. a few bottles AND I&#8217;m back to being extremely active.. Teaching regularly, running, training for a race, etc.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s HARD ya&#8217;ll know it is.. and I&#8217;m not making ANY EXCUSES.. I&#8217;m on this journey with a few folks in tow. Some days I say fugg the scale I&#8217;m happy.. and I AM HAPPY.. don&#8217;t get me wrong but sometimes I&#8217;m NOT Happy with what I see on the outside&#8230;and it doesn&#8217;t make it any better when I go to the doctors and I hear them say THIS OVER AND OVER AGAIN.. it is now beginning to bother me.  I&#8217;ve made some progress.. down 16 lbs.. but I have 40 more to go.. YUP I SAID 40.  I&#8217;m actually down the 15 I had gained during my injury so SCORE FOR ME.</p>
<p>My journey has NOT been easy and I sometimes get discouraged like WHAT MORE CAN I DO???? I&#8217;ve seen a nutritionist and I&#8217;m eating my target calories daily.. I&#8217;ve reduced my alcohol intake, I even have reduced to baking only on special occassions.. but that plateau won&#8217;t budge..</p>
<p>It&#8217;s my workouts.. and THAT&#8217;S WHAT I HAVE TO CHANGE.  My body has gotten used to teaching 3-4x&#8217;s a week.  It&#8217;s gotten used to running up to 12 miles a week.  it&#8217;s gotten used to lifting weights 2-3x&#8217;s a week..</p>
<p style="text-align:center;"><strong>I NEED A CHANGE</strong></p>
<p>I just don&#8217;t know WHAT to change.. *sigh* this is frustrating BUT I&#8217;ve enlisted my friend who is also my mentor to train me.  Some may think as a fitness professional I shouldn&#8217;t have this issue.. BUT I&#8217;m human and I do have this issue and I&#8217;m NOT afraid to say it.</p>
<p>I have some very supportive friends in real life and here on the net and I&#8217;m thankful for you all.  One of my friends asked me how did I help her lose 30lbs and I can&#8217;t do the same for myself.. I don&#8217;t know how to explain how different it is.. but she has taken to texting me and asking me if I drank water and what did I do to be active today.. I love her for it..</p>
